A study conducted on those who had survived the Nazi death camps during WW2 found that almost all survivors had one thing in common, naked hope. When they put their thoughts into the future, they used hope like a magnet to bring them to safety. What is hope?

Bible scholar Joseph H. Thayer says hope is, “A joyful and confident expectation.” The writer of the book of Hebrews calls hope the anchor of the soul and a place of refuge, safety, and protection.
Hope causes us to walk towards the sun not away from it. Hope creates the law of attraction; we attract those things that we hope for. Martin Luther said, “Everything that is done in the world is done by hope.”

You can live forty days without food, four days without water, four minutes without air, but you can’t live four seconds without hope!
Lamentations 3:21, “This is a recall to my mind; therefore I have hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts which I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Psalm 71:14, “I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more.”
Romans 12:12, “Rejoice in our hopeful.”

If words such as these take control of your mind and your attitude towards life, life for you will change. Hope is a positive picture of your future supported by God’s promises, so let’s daily practice hope. In the book of Ephesians, it’s called a helmet, hope protects our thought life against the drainage that comes from worry and fear. Think hope, picture hope, and talk hope.
