Thousands of years ago, King Solomon said in his Proverbs, “A merry heart is good like a medicine,” and it’s taken medical science years to confirm this truth. It’s an absolute fact that when we are happy, that is our state of mind is fixed on good and pleasant thoughts, we perform better, and are healthier. Russian psychologist K.Kekcheyev tested people when they were thinking pleasant and unpleasant thoughts. He found that when thinking pleasant thoughts, they could see better, taste, smell and hear better, and detected finer differences in touch.

Dr. William Bates proved that eyesight improved immediately when individuals are thinking good thoughts or visualizing pleasant scenes. It has also been shown that thinking good, wholesome, positive thoughts improve the function of our stomachs, liver, heart, and internal organs. Significantly, both Judaism and Christianity prescribe joy, rejoicing, thankfulness, cheerfulness as a means to a great life.

Happiness is not in your future but in your present. Most people live their lives on a deferred payment plan; that is, they do not live and enjoy life now, but are waiting for some future event to happen. They think they will be happy when they get married, get a better job, when the house is paid for, or when a stressful situation is over, but to live like this will only bring disappointment. Happiness is a mental habit, a mental attitude, and if it’s not practiced in the present, it can never be experienced. This is why the Bible says in Philippians 4:8 to think on the good, pure, lovely, and good report and God’s peace will be with you.

In the world we live in today we need to hear truths like this over and over, I encourage you to Download my series called “Health and Wellness.”
