The one thing that all of us need big doses of daily is encouragement. So when you meet others, give it to them! Why? Because more people die of a broken heart then swelled heads. And that’s absolutely true whether they live in a mansion or a mud hut. The story is told of a little boy who wanted to play darts with his dad. He said, “Come on, Dad, let’s play darts, I’ll throw, and you shout wonderful!”
Wow! We tend to become what the most important people in our lives think of us. So let’s assume the best, believe the best toward others because your words of encouragement are helping to shape their destiny.
Remember that change happens in inches, not miles! You didn’t change overnight, and neither will others. Even change that looks simple seldom is. You can’t tell people things just once and expect them to get it, they need to hear it over and over again. Encouragement is so profoundly needed in our hearts, and so many are deprived of it. It’s like water to the thirsty, food to the hungry. Our tendency is to believe the negative and critical things about us until we just give up and give into them.
In the Old Testament, the book of Job, he began to pray for his friends, God healed him and restored all that he had lost. Let’s become an encourager of others, let’s help shape someone’s destiny.
