All of us need inspiration; it’s like air to our lungs, water, and food to our bodies. The inspiration for living lifts the burden of the day. The inspiration for living changes the way we see life and the way life responds to us.

Mom was warming up the car in the garage waiting for her young son to finish getting ready, late, as usual, she honked the horn, he then came bolting through the house into the garage and got in the car. Off they went, first to drop him off at school and her at work. At the end of the day, she picked him up from school and drove home. As the garage door lifted, she noticed that something was wrong and discovered the floor of the garage covered with water, after a quick examination of the situation she realized what had happened. The freezer had gotten unplugged when her son accidentally kicked the cord out of the wall that morning. As she opened it up, it became apparent that everything in it was thawed out. It contained over $400.00 of steaks, chicken, fish, etc. all thawed out. I’m no expert; however, I do know that you can’t refreeze meat.

Calling her husband, she asked, “What are we going to do?”. Then he said, “We’re going to have a barbecue, call all the family, neighbors and anyone else you can think of and tell them don’t cook, dinner is on us.” She did, and they came. About 10 pm that night her husband got to thinking, “I’ve fed the neighborhood, emptied my freezer, gave away $400.00 of meat, and now I’ll have to replace it”. Then he thought, “There’s got to be a message in this.” And there was, but not just any message, one that has lived can bring inspiration for living.

Would you like to know what the message was? Hearing it and living it can and will bring great inspiration for living. So, here it is. “Life is perishable, you can’t save it; you will either give it away or you will have to throw it away.”

Your life and mine is a perishable commodity. Too often we try to save it, hang on to it or refuse to share it. If we take that course the day will come when we’ll have to throw it away. So instead of throwing it away, why not give it away, and why wait you can start today.
