Welcome, 2021! It’s Time for Joy!

The New Testament book called Philippians wasn’t written at a resort or by a man who was void of difficulties. Paul penned this book while chained to Roman soldiers, he was a man that had known excruciating hardships and pain, yet in those 104 verses, the theme is Joy! How could he have joy in the midst of difficulties? Because joy is independent of the externals, those with joy enjoy life now. They waste no time thinking about greener pastures; they don’t yearn for yesterday or tomorrow; they savor the moment.

But it goes far deeper than that; the real key to joy is discovered in chapter one, verse six, “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun and good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” The real reason that joy is independent of circumstances is that joy, God’s joy, is discovered in the confidence that what He began, He will complete it! It makes no difference what is happening in our world or across the globe; our God will accomplish in, and through us all that He started. So we live with that confidence!

And with that said, it’s time to LET GO. LET GO of the habit of looking at the negative. LET GO of your need to fix everybody’s unhappiness. LET GO of the drive to compete and compare. LET GO of so many needless inhibitions that keep you from celebrating life. Let’s stop being so protective, so predictable, and so proper. Let’s face it, you and I are getting older, so it’s time to STOP acting like it!
