Here’s a great Bible verse Psalm 8:3, “When I consider the heavens, the work of your hands, the moon, and the stars, which You have ordained.”
The question, why did God make the world so beautiful, so impressive, so significant? Nobody to this day knows how big the heavens are or how many stars are out there. God didn’t have to make it so big for the earth to exist. Why did He fill each morning with a different sunrise and each evening at sunset paint the sky in shades of red? Why did He create so many mountain peaks, or make the vastness of the oceans?
I’ve flown over 4 million miles, and I’m always amazed looking out the window of a plane of the amazing beauty and expansion of the earth. So, why did God do it? Here’s why, and it is summed up by what the Psalmist said, “When I consider the heavens, the work of your hands.” We have a little dog, his entire world is our house and backyard. He never notices the sky. The only time he looks up is when he sees a squirrel in a tree. He knows us and likes us and barks when anyone else shows up. To him, God’s creation means nothing. There are too many people who are content with a small world. “Consider the heavens” means to look up and get a big world view, it means to believe big, think big, talk big, and live big, because we serve a Big God!
