It’s been said that little things make big things happen, that little hinges swing big doors. The opposite is also true; small areas of negligence can cause big problems. Paying attention to small details can benefit us and save us from a host of difficulties.
Consider the following story.
Noel Borja of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Philippians would have been the youngest Philippine multimillionaire on record had he paid attention to the power of small things.
Borja had thirty days in which to appear before his grandfather’s executor so that he might receive the $116 million that his grandfather had left him as his sole heir. Unfortunately, the executor’s letter ended up in the Bureau of Post’s dead-mail section, and the deadline expired. Borja never appeared. Why didn’t Borja receive the notice? Because he had moved from a boarding house in Manila without leaving a forwarding address. So he never knew about the money. His own negligence left him without a solid basis on which to appeal.
Proverbs 10:4NKJV “The hand of the diligent makes rich.” The opposite of diligence is not laziness but often negligence. Simply not paying attention to the small things. So next time you’re tempted to overlook little things, think of Borja and be diligent.
