Our little dog Winston sleeps on our bed, gets daily walks with my wife, has his basket; he is fed regularly (and seems to tell us when he wants to eat) he is cared for and gets all the attention he craves. He has discovered the secret that most of us spend our lifetime trying to figure out. He wags his tail not his tongue. He has no ulterior motives; he’s not trying to sell us anything, doesn’t want to marry us and doesn’t have an angle.
A dog is the only animal that doesn’t have to work for a living! A hen has to lay eggs; a cow needs to give milk, a canary must sing. But not a dog, he makes his living by giving nothing but love. A dog seems to know by divine instinct that it can make more friends in two months by becoming genuinely interested in other people than we can in two years by trying to get others interested in us. People aren’t interested in me, their not interested in you! They’re interested in themselves. I’ll prove it. What’s the most used word in the English language? It’s also the most used word in our conversation; it’s “I.” When you see a group picture that you are in, whose picture do you look for first! That’s right, yours.
If we merely try to impress people and get them interested in us, we will never have any real, sincere friends! Alfred Adler, the famous Viennese psychiatrist, said, “It is the individual who is not interested in his fellow man who has the greatest difficulties in life and provides the greatest injury to others. It is from among such individuals that all human failures spring.”
Remember this and let’s practice it, you can have everything in life you want if you just help enough other people get what they want. That didn’t come from me; it came from Jesus, Jesus asked 307 questions in the four gospels, do you know the question he asked more than any other? The one he asked more than any other is, “What do you want me to do for you.” He was expressing His desire to help us be all He created us to be.
Make sure you download my series, How to Increase your Influence and don’t wait to do it, do it now, because when you do it NOW, (spell it backward), you have WON!
Pastor Rob and Ginger, I enjoyed learning about Winston. And what a handsome guy he is! Keep sharing Jesus. You are making a difference!

Thank you Pastor Rob for another life changing lesson, and for your commitment in spreading God’s word!
I love dogs 🐕, so this story hit home- my Constant companion in my beloved dog river passed away suddenly and then months later to the day my cat passed away.
This is such a great analogy and I love the question that Jesus asked , what do you want me to do for you ?
I had forgotten about that question altogether- i’m very appreciative of this reminder in this very touching message
