There are two eternities that we can’t do anything about, the eternity of the past and the eternity of the future! We can’t live in either one, not been for a split second. But by trying to do so, we destroy our bodies and our minds. The only moment we have is today. “Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until nightfall,” wrote Robert Louis Stevenson. “Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down,” He went on to say,

Don’t put off living; stop dreaming about some magical rose garden in the future at the expense of enjoying the roses of today. As one person said, “The child says when I grow up, then as they grow up, they say, when I get older, then when they get married and are raising a family, the thought changes to when I can retire. And then when retirement comes, they look back over the landscape of their lives and realize they had missed it all.”

This is why the Bible has so much to say about days because you can only live and only find life when you live and come alive to your todays. Psalm 90:12, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.” We number our years, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.… But God said to number our DAYS. Psalm 23, “Goodness and mercy shall follow you all the DAYS of your life.” Psalm 145:2, “Every DAY I will bless you.” Psalm 118:24, “This is the DAY the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it!”

Wow, this is a great truth! Live for today!
