There’s a story found in the Bible of a man that received one talent, which represented ability and opportunity. The sad part of the story was that he buried it. When asked why he buried it, his reply was, “I was afraid.” Let’s not be like him.
A physician kept a record for a year of the fears of his patients. He found that 40% were afraid of things that never happened, 30% were fearful because of the past events about which they could do nothing. 12% were afraid of some imaginary illness. 10% were afraid of something that might happen to a loved one. Only 8% of their fears had real causes. So 92% of their fears were needless. Real or unreal, their fears had locked them up in a prison of unhappiness.
So, how can we unlock ourselves? Harry was seven years of age when he was stricken with rheumatic fever and later developed arthritis. His pain was so bad that wearing clothes was torture. Confined to a wheelchair, Harry grew bitter and felt there was no reason to live. One day he fell out of his chair and laying helpless for hours on the floor. While Harry cried out with more bitterness, something happened, a knock at the door. It was the mailman. Harry yelled out for help, and he came in to pick him up and put him back in his chair. The mailman said these words to Harry, “With God, all things are possible” Mark 10:27.
Those words burnt into Harry’s mind and freed him of his bitterness. He began a greeting card business, and the first year made over one million dollars. God’s promises if believed, will unlock you!!
