Thomas Edison became the worlds greatest inventor and scientist, but before that, he was a telegraph operator. There was nothing special about that until in his failure he discovered the genius that God had placed within him. Sometimes it takes a setback or a failure for us to wake up!
Helen Keller became deaf, blind and unable to speak shortly after birth. Despite all of these difficulties, she affected the world with her courage to go forward regardless of her handicaps. Her entire life served as evidence that no one is defeated until the defeat is accepted as a reality.
Beethoven was deaf, Milton, the famous poet was blind, yet their names and accomplishments live on because they refused to allow their handicaps to define them; instead, they woke up to all the possibilities that they had. The only limitations we have are the ones we set in our minds. It’s time to wake up our desires. Desire is the starting point of all achievement.
So as we begin this new year refuse for it to be like the last. Wake up desire in your life. The following will help.
1. Re-connect with your burning desire. Your desire is what God has put in you for you to reach your potential.
2. Define your desire, write it out and make it clear.
3. Put a plan of action together and daily do something that moves you forward.
Keep that desire burning in your heart through prayer. Jesus said in Mark 11:24 “What things soever you desire when you pray, believe that you receive them and you shall have them.”
Notice, that you first have to have a desire, then as you pray you, believe that you receive in other words see yourself with them! This attitude will move you towards your desire, and your desire will run towards you.
