One of the greatest truths of psychology is that whatever you want to be done probably will be done. Have you ever wanted to stop a habit in your life? The reason why we often have difficulty in stopping it is that our minds are divided. One part of us says, “I need to stop this” and the other part doesn’t want to. Listen, mental division stops our power of decision. The Bible says that we become like the waves of the sea tossed up and down, and in that condition, we won’t receive anything from the Lord. The waves of the sea are listening to two opinions, the pull of the moon to go up and the pull of the earth downward.

So how can we stop something? I’m sure we can use all types of methods given by well-meaning people; however, they will fall short and require us to try harder. The Bible doesn’t tell us to try harder, but to believe!
Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” How this works is by using your willpower. You say that you will stop, but your imagination which is stronger than your will, tells you that you can’t stop; thus you feel defeated.

When you admit your weakness and fill your imagination with Christ, His power begins to flow in to support you. If we can see Jesus going before the storm and the winds and waves and they become peaceful under His influence. If you see sick people become well under His power, lame people rise when He speaks, and captives set free by His power of deliverance, gradually you begin to realize that nothing could defeat Him. And as you consecrate your life to Him, you will understand that because you have Him, nothing can defeat you!
